Requirements for Admission

 

 

Applicants must complete the following Core Course/Prerequisites prior to application to the nursing program:

Life-Span Psychology 3 semester units Psychology 41
College Reading/Comp Math† 3 semester units English 101

*Students who can demonstrate successful completion of one year of high school Chemistry (with lab) with a grade of C or better are exempt from this prerequisite.
**A combined Anatomy/Physiology course of 8 units with lab may be substituted.
†Must demonstrate placement in Math 125 or higher or have completed a course that meets this requirement. Math 125 is required for graduation and transfer to a baccalaureate program in Nursing. Make an appointment with a Pierce College counselor for advisement.

Selection

To be eligible, for the lottery, the applicant must:

  1. Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology, with no grade less than "C" in any one of these courses and no more than one repetition of any of these courses.
  2. A grade of "C" or better for all other prerequisite courses. Be in good academic standing and not be on academic or progress probation.
  3. Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in the prerequisite classes.
  4. Meet the ATl TEAS exam requirement. A study manual is available at .

Eligible applicants are selected by random lottery and will be notified of program acceptance by email.
