Probation and Dismissal
What is Probation?
There are two types of probation: Academic and Progress probation.
Academic Probation
You can be placed on academic probation when you have attempted at least 12 units and have a grade point average of less than 2.00. Please note that the law refers to your cumulative grade point average, and not just your last semester of attendance.
Progress Probation
You can be placed on progress probation when more than 50% of the units in which you enroll result in grades of withdrawal (W), incomplete (I), or no credit (NC). Please note that the law refers to your cumulative percentage of withdrawals (W), incomplete (I), and no pass (NP) grades and does not only consider your last semester of attendance.
Who is subject to dismissal from Pierce College?
When academic and/or progress probation continues for three consecutive semesters, you become subject to dismissal. Dismissal from the college means that you will not be able to attend any college of the Los Angeles Community College District (СÀ¶ÊÓƵ) for a full academic year. If, at the end of that year, you wish to enroll in any of the District's colleges, you must submit an online application.
