CRIME ALERT -- Sexual Battery

Warning: this notice describes a recent local crime reported in the vicinity which may represent a threat to the safety of students or employees.  This information is being provided in compliance with requirements of the Clery Act, a federal statute codified at 20 U.S.C. § 1092, with implementing regulations in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations at 34 CFR 668.46.  The purpose of this warning is to aid in the prevention of similar crimes by alerting the campus community about the incident and to provide information which allows individuals to make informed decisions about their personal safety. 

Reported Offense: Sexual Battery
Date & Time of Occurrence: 02-13-2023 11:45 AM
Location: L.A. Pierce College - near the flagpole outside of the bookstore. 

Incident Description:

A male suspect approached a female from behind and groping reportedly occurred. The female victim punched the suspect several times until he left running toward the area of Parking Lot 1 and out of view.

Vehicle Description: No vehicle; suspect was on foot.
Suspect Description (as provided by reporting source):
Age: 30-40 years old
Eye Color: Unknown
Hair Color: Dark colored, curly hair
Height: Approximately 5'09
Race: White
Sex: Male
Weight: Thin build
Additional Description: Suspect had a black mustache, was wearing a light blue shirt and had eyeglasses on.
Weapon: No weapon seen

  • Travel in pairs or with trusted companions, especially at night or in remote areas.
  • If someone is intoxicated or incapacitated, call for a taxi, rideshare or other car service, and make sure a trusted friend safely accompanies the incapacitated friend to their door.
  • If you observe a crime in progress, go to a safe location and call 911 or campus sheriff at the numbers above.
  • Do not attempt to apprehend any suspects or perpetrators of crime. Your personal safety and the safety of others around you should be your primary concern.  
  • Be a good witness: It is important to recall what you observed and provide as many details as possible to law enforcement such as: the sex, race, age, height, hair color, clothing, tattoos, scars of any suspects and a description of the make and model of any vehicle used in the crime and its license plate if possible.
