TUTORING EMPLOYMENT
The Pierce College Center for Academic Success (CAS) may hire new tutors for spring and fall semesters. There are positions as 鈥淕eneral Tutors鈥 and as 鈥淐ourse Embedded Tutors.鈥 These positions offer between five and ten hours per week, depending on the subject and availability. The position starts at $16.25 per hour. Please note that your application does not guarantee an interview. If you are contacted for an interview, that interview does not guarantee employment.
In order to qualify for an interview, you would first need to:
-
Earn an "A" in the course you would like to tutor (e.g. French 1 or Psychology 66). English and ESL requires that all candidates earn an "A" in English 101. General Math Tutoring requires that all candidates earn an "A" in Math 261.
-
Obtain a letter of recommendation from an instructor in that course. Have this letter emailed to the CAS Director at @email. For math, have it emailed to Eddie Tchertchian at @email.
-
Enroll in and maintain full-time status. If you are an 小蓝视频 student, at least 6 units must be at Pierce College. You can also be a full-time student at a university.

Deadline to Apply
Apply any time. Most positions will be filled two months before the start of the semester. We cannot start new tutors once tutor training has begun (see dates above).
Please note that we have far more highly-qualified applicants than we have positions available. Therefore, filling out an application does not guarantee that you will get an interview, and an interview does not guarantee that you will be hired.
If there are no positions available, your application will be rolled over to the next semester. If you would like to follow up on your application, please email Crystal Kiekel at kiekelcr@laccd.edu.
